Carina is a licensed creative arts therapist specializing in substance use disorders. She received her master’s degree in art therapy from the School of Visual Arts and has completed research on the intersection of substance use and attachment. Carina uses traditional talk therapy and art therapy techniques in her clinical practice, allowing for self-discovery that extends beyond words. While the process of recovery is challenging, Carina believes there is also space for humor and joy.
Before joining the Ascendant team, Carina played a pivotal role in the establishment of two Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) at a community-based treatment facility. These programs were tailored to adolescents and adults respectively, offering a robust art therapy curriculum as a core component.
In addition to her work as a therapist Carina has developed expertise in compliance and utilization management. This allows her to advocate for clients from multiple perspectives, ensuring they receive the care they deserve.
